The Research Programme is called “TETRA”, French acronym for “Territories crossed Migration, Micro-Workspaces and Decentering of Knowledge in Urban settings”. It spans from January 2025 to December 2026. The TETRA research initiative is truly international and puts together six different universities from France and oversea. The project is management by the Geography department of University Paris-Cité, a top-ranking public university in Paris, France. Our Work Package will focus on Food and Migration in the context of Malaysia, and more specifically on “Mamak Food”, a cuisine initially developed by Indian-Muslim migrants from Chennai and other parts of Southern India, which eventually became a national iconic food in Malaysia.
